Thank you to all those who joined us at A Night of Compassion! The donations are still arriving, but we are getting close to a final tally - at this stage just over $300,000! Our aim was to raise $200,000, and we have been blown away by the generosity of our fellow Tasmanians. Together, we have made such a difference in the lives of mothers and children, families, and communities, who need it the most.

And what a wonderful night it was! Marina Prior was breathtaking - have a look at the photos here

We can confirm that the date for next year's event will be June 26th 2010 - look out for more info later on this year!

Again, thank you to those of you were joined us on the night to help make a little more poverty history.

About A Night of Compassion

The inaugural "A Night of Compassion" gala dinner was held in Hobart in 2008. We aim to engage the Tasmanian community to raise funds for Compassion's Child Survival Programs in Ethiopia which assist pregnant mothers and at-risk children with food, education, and healthcare. For more information about Compassion's child Survival Programs, click here.

Our special guests in previous years have included Debra Byrne and Marina Prior, and this year we are delighted to announce that Sylvie Paladino will be joining us for a special performance. We'll also be joined later in the evening by Wilbur Wilde and Wendy Stapleton and their band, who will perform live.

Tasmanian individuals and businesses have been overwhelmingly generous in supporting this worthy cause. Over the past two years, we have raised in excess of over $400,000 to help release mothers and children from poverty.
